1. Introduction

I have seen hundreds of works before, and I think every work is wonderfully creative. I would like to express my greatest gratitude and respect to all creators who release these works to the world. And I hope that they will keep bringing out wonderful creations like these.

When viewers including myself see creative works, we will want to tell someone about our impressions. We can evaluate works from various viewpoints such as “the story is great.”, “this work has a very cute character.” or “No, this work is better in both the storyline and the character.” etc.

On this website, I attempt to rate the intriguing and wonderful aspects of each work through ten methods of rating. Please see [Table 1. Rating example]. This is an example of the rating based on the criteria used in this website. “Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works” is reviewed here, to which viewers may express various opinions. Please see Chapter 2, 3 and 4 for the details of the rating method.

Points, coefficients and subtotals are established for each rating item, and the total is determined for each piece of work. The details of each factor are outlined below.

Each rating item has 10 points. The criteria for this  evaluation are shown in [Table 3. Pointing standards].

[Table 3. Pointing standards]

PointsEvaluationComments
10OutstandingIt is the best compared with others, surprisingly wonderful.
9BrilliantIt’s almost perfect.
8ExcellentIt is satisfactory enough.
7GreatIt is very good.
6GoodIt is average and not bad.
5Not GoodIt is not good.
4FairThere are fatal mistakes or problems.
3PoorIt’s totally unsatisfactory, not enough.
2Very PoorIt is doubtful whether it is worth evaluating.
1BadIt is obviously bad.
0Not Applicable (N/A)It doesn’t have the evaluation element of the rating item.
e.g. “Sound/Voice” item in a soundless work.

The evaluation of each rating item is shown in [Table 3. Pointing standards] on the premise of comparing works within the same year. It has some meaning in comparing the rating item of “Drawing & Directing” between work A and work B both released in 2007, but this is not the case when the targeted works are produced in 2007 and 2017 for example. This is because the technical level is different, which is one of the preconditions that influence the rating item “Drawing & Directing”. This applies to the rest of the rating items too.

This evaluates the rating items of Worldview, Drawing, Background and Music within opening and closing, especially focusing on Worldview. High evaluation will be given when above items include expressions that would help understand the work or when they change as the story progresses. Opening and closing that link with the actual story can be highly appreciated.

5. Conclusion

This website rates each work under the standards mentioned above in order to clearly indicate outstanding aspects. Note that points, subtotals or total of the rating item are the results of the evaluation of works released in the “same” year. It is almost meaningless to compare the [Animation] of Work A in 2007 with that of Work B in 2017. For the sake of convenience, each work has a total, but comparing the total between the works doesn’t bear much significance. We aim to convey the results to the visitor of this website by clarifying excellent factors of each work.
