An outstanding work that has made history. Since it was produced in 2008, character designs are different from now, but I suggest you just watch this anime regardless of that. You should understand why people say "Clannad is my Life".
|Title (Eng)||Clannad After Story|
|Title (Jpn)||CLANNAD AFTER STORY|
The second season of the Clannad series produced by Kyoto Animation. The original work was an adventure game made by a game brand named Key. The emotional story conveying friendship with fantasy became popular. Tomoya and Nagisa start dating after numerous events in season 1. In season 2, the friendship and love between friends and families are fully conveyed, with the love story of the two in the center.
3. Character’s way of Speaking
･Okazaki Tomoya (岡崎 朋也, おかざき ともや)
He uses a normal male speech like “xxx だ” and “xxx だぜ”. As for the style of narration, it ends sentences with “xxx だ” or “xxx である”. He is not a family with Nagisa but communicates with her as if he was her family. In the second season, he has become a good character for both listening and emulating.
･Furukawa Nagisa (古河 渚, ふるかわ なぎさ)
She speaks in the “xxx です” or “xxx ます” tone. She mainly uses polite words like “xxx ください”, “xxx ましょう” but modest expressions like “xxx していただきましょう” are sometimes used. Female Japanese learners should refer to her as a model.
･Furukawa Sanae (古河 早苗, ふるかわ さなえ)
She mainly uses the same style of speech as Nagisa. Many lines have “xxx ですよ”. She also stretches ends of sentences like “みなさーん、ファイトーですよー！”. As with Nagisa, it is recommended for listening and emulating for female learners.
･Furukawa Akio (古河 秋生, ふるかわ あきお)
He uses a rough, boyish-style speech like “xxx じゃねえ” and “xxx ぞ”. Though his language sound rough and aggressive, his actions and his tone convey his kindness. He would be a good listening material.
･Okazaki Ushio (岡崎 汐, おかざき うしお)
She uses a somewhat childish way of speech like “xxx して”. Since children have a limited amount of vocabulary, short lines and words are frequently used. Polite expressions, like calling books “ご本” is also used. This is not the way adults normally talk, but it is used frequently by children. She can be a good model for listening.
･Yoshino Yuusuke (芳野 祐介, よしの ゆうすけ)
He uses a cool male speech like “xxx だ” and “xxx くれ”. If you only read his lines, you might get an impression that he is reliable, but in fact, he is quite stupid, and the gap between his action and his speech is quite funny.
4. Terms and Talking Contents
The plot and the setting are based on daily life, so the contents of the conversations are mostly about daily life. Especially conversations between families and teenagers are repeated. This anime nicely portrays the characters’ feelings. For example, Tomoya does not think well of his father, so he blurs the conversation when it is about his family. One of the examples is when Nagisa suggested Tomoya he takes his father to his baseball game. Tomoya responded “また今度にしよう……な”, which reflects his feelings very well.
