A story is good, there is something that echoes to the soul. This anime strongly obtains such impression, calmness, cooperation, unity and congruity, peace and harmony, stability and security. There is an element that can move our heart by 1 episode, you would be moved to cry with each story. Drawing and background are stable, especially the closing song is over brilliant.
This is one of the most famous youth anime in Japan. Unfortunately, my personal appraisal is not so high. There is no doubt that it is an excellent anime, but I just do not like it personally.
|Title (Eng)||Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day|
Six childhood friends who were good friends long ago were away from each other when they were high school students. However, as a result of Menma’s wish in the center of six friends, they once again gather together like their past although they lived their lives in their respective areas.
3. Character’s way of Speaking
･Yadomi Jinta (宿海 仁太, やどみ じんた)
His nickname is “Jintan”. He speaks in a gossaty tone of high school student boys: “xxx だろ” and “xxx じゃねえ”. He is shut-in from the failure of taking the high school examination. His way of speaking is timid outside the house.
･Honma Meiko (本間 芽衣子, ほんま めいこ)
Her nickname is “Menma”. Actually, she died of an accident at elementary school. Her appearance is growing, but its contents remain as it was at elementary school. Therefore, she talks like a child. “xxx だよー” “xxx ねー”, often extends the ending of her words.
･Anjou Naruko (安城 鳴子, あんじょう なるこ)
Her nickname is “Anaru”. Because she is going out with bad girl friends, she also uses young girls’ words. For example, she says “関係なくない?” (かんけいなくない). This means “関係ないよね?” (かんけいないよね, Does it have nothing to do?”). In this way, “xxx なくない?” is an expression that seeks consent to denial. Young people often use it even in Real. Be aware that this way of saying is limited to close friends.
･Matsuyuki Atsumu (松雪 集, まつゆき あつむ)
He speaks surely and intimidatingly, but it is the reason for his complex of past events. If you watch this anime to the end, you will understand why he speaks like that.
･Tsurumi Chiriko (鶴見 知利子, つるみ ちりこ)
She often takes a cold attitude towards Naruko. There are also a lot of tight expressions in the words she uses, so when you watch it you want to think about the meaning well (If not so, you would misunderstand her personality)
･Hisakawa Tetsudou (久川 鉄道,ひさかわ てつどう)
He respects Jinta and has a habit of saying “じんたん つえー”. The word “強い” (つよい, Strong) is pronounced as “つえー” in youth words.
4. Terms and Talking Contents
At the beginning of the story, the characters who reunited after a long time talk awkwardly. As time goes on, they will gradually be able to talk with real intention. Paying attention to the change in the way of speaking accompanying it, you will be able to learn more practical Japanese nuances. There are many natural Japanese languages in the whole anime, there are no phrase-like lines. However, I say repeatedly, basically, there are many young people’s words, so as to practice listening but not to emulate.

6. Intermediate can Learn Japanese with This Anime
It would be good for listening to Japanese because terms are also simple and honorific words do not come out. Fortunately, all the letters written in Menma’s diary notebook are Hiragana, so it will be good for reading practice.
However, for Japanese learners, it is a drawback that many young people’s words and slang come out in this anime. Let’s not practice talking about these bad words. So the difficulty level of terms and conversation is over middle school: 16th grade.
|Difficult Terms Occurrence Rate||5.7 terms/episode||= 61 / 11|
|Difficulty Level||16th grade||= University|
|Total Difficulty Score||91.2 points||= 5.7 * 16|
|Comprehensive Judgment||Normal||= 70.0 to 129.9 points|
