65% Great

The theme of this work is about "child rearing" with the present social circumstance in Japan. this well-impressed worldview which draws a drama seriously and this heartwarming story with tears, sadness, and smiles are brilliant. This pale color animation and calm music mutch the atmosphere of this story very much. It never consists of showy animations, music, and performances but it is a great story because it draws universal values between parents and children, families, and societies.

Daikichi has a strong sense of justice but he is careless and Rin is grown up than her age. Those odd partners start to live together with helping each other.

3. Character’s way of Speaking

・Kawachi Daikichi (河地 大吉, かわち だいきち)

Bunny Drop

He is 30 years old and a company employee. He uses the way of general speaking as a Japanese man. He speaks a little rough tone, “xxxじゃねぇ”, “xxxかよ”, etc. but he doesn’t use any slang words. When you see just his tone or face, you maybe think he looks scary, but he has gentle one side, for example, he takes in Rin without relatives. There is the episode that he apologizes to her saying “はい、すんません” when she points out his meal of manners. “はい、すんません” is a loose expression, but “はい、すいません” is a more polite wording than “はい、すみません”. Therefore, you see he regards her as an adult.

・Kaga Rin (鹿賀 りん, かが りん)

She is 6 years old and a girl of few words. Although, she is very polite. She uses short words, “あれがいい” (I want that), “くつした” (I want a pair of socks), etc. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the part of that has been abbreviated. Daikichi becomes in place of her parents, but she calls him his name “Daikichi”. In general, children call their fathers “おとうさん” even if they are fathers-in-law. Although, she calls him as a roommate since her father is the other man for her. The scene that Rin says “もう、おきないの?” (Doesn’t he wake up anymore?) to Daikichi is put her sincerely feeling. Like this, you may find so many scenes that immature and pure words of children let you heartwarming in this story.

4. Terms and Talking Contents

She talks a lot of simple words. He also uses easy words for her. Since 70% of conversations in this anime are between Rin and Daikichi, the difficulty level is very low. As mentioned above, some of her words are abbreviated but it is easy to understand the story by the actions of characters. In the first episode, there is the scene of the Japanese funnel. Some of the words, “葬式” (そうしき, funeral), “大往生” (だいおうじょう, peaceful death), etc. appear, but he explains them to her. Therefore, it will be easy to understand them. There are a lot of scenes using just facial expressions or music. It is possible to feel “間 (ま, the time of silent)”, which is valued by Japanese people.
